UNIMA launches its anniversary with training of young artists

The International Puppetry Union was built on the desire to create a Europe of the link: going beyond borders to connect citizens, amateurs, artists and researchers around puppetry. This anniversary is an opportunity for the oldest international theater association to look at the heritage of puppetry in the light of its youth, to question the ways in which this heritage can be invested, preserved, broadcast.

This paper theater course will be directed by Alain Lecucq and Narguess Majd, considered as founders of a new approach to paper theater. After a brief introduction to the paper theater, the participants will work in groups on selected texts of the young authors contest, convened by UNIMA on the occasion of its 90th anniversary. This first part will be followed by a two day period in autonomy.

This workshop is part of a European project. Five workshop for young puppeteers are scheduled and will finish with a European creation scheduled for 2019, to be hosted by the festival J-365, organized by the World Festival of Puppet Theaters Charleville-Mezieres.
