From Tuesday, 13 June to Saturday, 17 June, the twenty-seventh edition of the International festival Mateřinka will take place at the Naive Theatre and many other venues in Liberec.
The show focuses on the creation of professional puppet theatre for preschool children and this year it will be attended by almost two dozen companies and soloists from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Belgium, Denmark and Germany.
An integral part of the festival is also its rich accompanying programme – open-air performances followed by puppetry workshops, evening concerts in the Naive Theatre, exhibitions in the foyer of the Naive Theatre, in the Small Exhibition Hall and in the North Bohemian Museum, expert theatrical discussions or screenings of animated films.
The festival will also enliven the historic centre of the city, especially on Tuesday afternoon, 13 June, the trumpeting of the giant inflatable elephants – the mascots of the Motherhouse – will first sound through the centre of Liberec and will not stop until Saturday evening.
